The Crown Prince never thought that he would breakthrough to [1] Core Condensation Stage so suddenly. However, he was in no mood to appreciate this miracle. He was too busy exploding with fury.
He had lived for 19 years now, only to be pressed down by a woman!
He rubbed the back of his neck and looked down to see all kinds of odd injuries. Unnerved, he yelled for an attendant. Once he had properly bathed and dressed, he hurried towards the Imperial College.
The Imperial College
This time, everyone that should be back at the College had made it back. Once they stepped into the Villa, Xuan Yin immediately rushed upstairs to her room and shut the door behind her. The others looked at each other in some confusion. They had a feeling that something unusual must have happened.
However, as long as the person involved is fine, things should be fine, right?
“No matter what, the Dean as well as the elders of this College, will be on our side so let’s not overthink the matter for now,” said Lin Fan. “We should take this opportunity to rest.”
“Yes,”
After that short answer, everyone left for their rooms. As they made their way upstairs, they sensed Spiritual fluctuations.
Could that be Xuan Yin? Was she on the verge of a breakthrough? If so, that explains why she was in such a hurry to shut herself up.
As for Shiyu, she had other things on her mind…
Breaking through was a normal thing and nothing they could assist with, so the rest of them headed to their own room to rest.
Shiyu, however, remained downstairs along with Xiao Qi and Lao Er. [3] Xiao Qi was currently clinging to her waist and Lao Er looked like he had something to say, so she waited.
“Eldest sister,” he began, “perhaps I should take Xiao Qi home?”
As the eldest brother, he had always been ashamed and bitter about not being able to protect this little sister. Moreover, after coming to the Imperial Capital, he felt he contributed practically nothing to the group. Often, he was even the one dragging them back.
“You’re overthinking things,” Shiyu patted him on the shoulder. “People who did evil should not complain about us being cruel. Things have reached this point, what should happen has already happened. If you leave now, you might well make yourself an easy target for our enemies. I have a feeling something big is going to happen soon. For my peace of mind and your safety, make sure not to leave the College grounds.”
She had not told Lao Er about the Thunder Seed yet. Let’s settle everything first before informing him. After all, good news will double in delight when it comes as a surprise.
“En,” seeing his sister cautious but unworried attitude, Lao Er also let go of his worries. [2] This was their very capable Eldest Sister, after all, what she said must be true.
I must hurry up and become strong! The next time something like this happen, I must be capable of confronting it without hesitation!
“Sister, I shall go to my room first,” he nodded respectfully at her. [3] Then his eyes slid over to where Xiao Qi was still clinging to Shiyu’s waist.
“Go on, rest well,” Shiyu smiled.
Once Lao Er left, there was only Shiyu and Xiao Qi in the room. This little girl, although she’s still a little brat, she’s also a little heavy, ah.
Shiyu patted Xiao Qi’s head. “It’s alright.”
Xiao Qi suddenly burst into noisy tears, “I- I made trouble for sister again! Wuwuwu, sister, don’t send me back. I want to come with you,”
“You did not make trouble. However, you must remember sister’s words. We don’t know what the future holds or who we would meet. Don’t believe the words of strangers. Follow brother and sister closely whenever we go out. Otherwise, if we lost you, we might never see each other again.”
Xiao Qi nodded seriously, “I understand.”
Shiyu had given a whole lecture, but she never expected Xiao Qi to understand everything. After all, how much could a child’s simple mind grasp? She might think she understood it today, but how much would her little head retain it in the excitement of tomorrow?
There are good and bad people in this world. There are also the not-so-good and not-so-bad. No one could see what goes on below a person’s skin. If they could, wouldn’t the world be a more peaceful place?
Shiyu and Xiao Qi were still speaking with each other when there was a sudden commotion outside. Shiyu immediately got up to glance through the window. Someone had kicked in their bamboo gate. The culprit was now striding up their little garden path. It was a young man dressed in sapphire blue Chinese robes. His handsome and heroic face was dark with anger and he was practically stomping up to their door.
Shiyu dashed to the door and came out to confront him, “Who are you? How dare you barge over for no reason?”
“Call that person down!” the young man demanded.
“Call who?” Shiyu narrowed her eyes.
The person opened their mouth, but then closed it with a frown.
[4] As Shiyu glared, his left eye twitched. She said impatiently, “Well?” [4] “That person’s name is…” the young man stopped again. [4] Shiyu’s glare grew fiercer. [4] The young man finally cursed and said, “Whatever, I am Dong-Fang Zhen.”Shiyu’s eyebrows shot up. Oho, I know who you are looking for. However, I can tell from your attitude that you’re clearly here to look for trouble. So there’s no way I’m letting you into this house!
“Ah, so it’s your highness the Crown Prince. However, trespassing \at night is too overbearing even for a member of the royal family! Moreover, my friend should have no relationship with your highness. So, surely it’s a little unreasonable for your highness to storm in suddenly for no good reason.”
No relationship?
Dong-Fang Zhen’s eyes nearly burst into flames.
“Just tell her to come out and say whether there’s any relationship between us!”
Just then, the sound of a bamboo door being slammed open was heard from the third floor and the next thing Shiyu knew, Xuan Yin was right beside them. Shiyu narrowed her eyes: It looked like Xuan Yin had broken through to the Core Transformation stage.
Wait, isn’t this…
“I refuse to shoulder any responsibility,” Xuan Yin’s face had returned to its slightly wooden, expressionless quality. “We are not compatible. In the future, you may continue on your enlightened path, while I struggle on my dark and narrow wooden bridge.”
“I’m not here for your responsibility!” Dong-Fang Zhen snapped. His eyes blazing.
“Then what? Are you going to kill me for defiling you?” Xuan Yin looked right into his eyes. “Have you forgotten where you are? Moreover, you’re the one who ordered people to capture me. You harvested the bitter fruit yourself. Don’t blame others.”
Shiyu, “… …”
Was there something wrong with her ears? There must be something wrong with her ears.
“I’m going to make tea,” she loudly declared and escaped.
Dong-Fang Zhen really wanted to strangle this woman to death, “Have you no sense of honour?” how could she just spout out those shameful words? Defiled? Him? Pei! Pei! Pei!
“What is honour? [1] Can I eat it? Will honour save my life? Will it strengthen my body? Don’t joke. Forget about today’s matter. After all, it’s not like it would influence your chances to marry other women. Your Highness, let’s never meet again.” With that final remark, Xuan Yin turned around and made her way upstairs.
How could Dong-Fang Zhen just let the matter go? However, he could also feel two separate killing intent aiming at his person and could only suppress his anger for now.
There were people he could not afford to offend within this Villa. Not to mention, he was within the Imperial College grounds. In the end, he could only flick his sleeves, sniff imperiously, and left.
The Crown Prince leaving marked the end of today’s excitement. As to what had happened between the Crown Prince and Xuan Yin, well, it was not something that they could simply meddle in.
In the Original Novel, Crown Prince Dong-Fang Zhen was actually one of Xuan Yin’s male concubines. How unexpected, ah. To think that even though Qing Chen had escaped being part of the harem, this Dong-Fang Zhen actually appeared and hurled himself headfirst into original story line and became the first to entangle himself with Xuan Yin, ah.
One has to admit, fate really is a very fickle mistress, ah.
Luckily for the people of the Villa, the night passed very peacefully. The next day, Grand Elder Feng came. This time he was here to bring Feng Luo, Qing Chen, Xuan Yin and 12th Martial Uncle with him to the Emperor. Lin Fan left the house to see the Dean.
Therefore, there were only Shiyu and her two siblings, as well as one comatose patient, within the villa.
After resting the whole night, Shiyu was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed again. After yesterday’s incident, she could feel that she too was on the verge of a breakthrough.
Looks like engaging in battles truly is the best way to increase one’s strength.
When afternoon came around, none of them was back yet. Xiao Qi approached Shiyu in a spoilt manner and said, “Sister, what are we having for lunch?”
Shiyu smiled, “What would you like?”
“I want eggs! And vegetables! Meat!” [5]
“Alright, let’s make it together.”

[2] Addition Detail for Character Development: A little stream of consciousness thought process for Lao Er. [3] Additional Detail for Logistics Purpose: to establish what Xiao Qi was doing in the room ‘clinging to Shiyu’ before it was awkwardly revealed later. [4] Additional Details for Comedic Effect: Apparently the Crown Prince has forgotten to ask for Xuan Yin’s name. I think it’s supposed to be funny but the author ruined the effect through bad timing and sudden and unnecessary POV switches. [5] Added lots of ‘!’ [6] Added Details for Comedic Purpose: Okay, I added the ‘Can I eat it remark’ because come on! He was practically begging for it!

There’s the hypocrisy of who trespassed in the first place since the MC and others are the guilty party.
Thanks for the chapter!
