Tondemo Fanfiction – 007 – Crossover – Delicious in Dungeon

A continuation from the previous story in 005!

I’ll have to find a way to keep track soon…

Neither Chilchuck nor the big dragon managed to convince Mukouda to give them beer. Izutsumi had no idea why they were so upset about the lack of that foul drink, especially since they have these yummy fizzy sweet drinks…

Bffftt–!!!

“What is this sugar-filled monstrosity!!??” Senshi roared.

“Eh?”

“Hm?”

Brown sugar water was dribbling down Senshi’s beard, leaving a foamy fizz behind. That was nothing compared to the brown fizz water-covered Laios, the victim of Senshi’s unexpected fizzy water attack.

“Oi, what’s the meaning of this-” Laois spluttered.

“I should be asking what’s the meaning of this!” Senshi raged at, at Mukouda? “What is this abominable sugary drink? It has no health benefits at all!!”

“Er, well,” Mukouda backed away from an angry Senshi, not quite afraid, but definitely a little nervous.

“Oi, Dwarf. Aren’t you being too presumptuous?” the Fenrir stepped forward to bare its teeth at Senshi. “Step back, or I’ll eat you.”

“You dare-”

The hackles on the back of Izutsumi’s neck all stood up as Senshi waved a wooden spoon at an obviously dangerous legendary mythical creature.

“Hup!”

Before anything serious could happen though, Izutsumi reacted first. She pounced forward, landing feet and hands on Senshi.

“Good! Don’t let him go!” Laios commanded as he rushed towards Senshi with his arms wide open, ready to restrain the Dwarf.

Chilchuck already had his ropes out and had one loop around Senshi’s foot. A quick tug later, Senshi was on the ground and Laios had flopped on top of him. As for Izutsumi, she had already rolled out of the way the moment Senshi tipped over.

“Hah!” Chilchuck crowed after having trussed up Senshi like a caterpillar. He was astonishingly good with ropes.

Izutsumi flexed her claws. Humph! Ropes are nothing to her claws!

“Hey! What’s going on here?” Marcille shrieked as she stormed forward.

“Brother? Chilchuck? Why did you tie up Mister Senshi?” asked Falin curiously.

“Abomination! Heresy!” Senshi continued to howl as he thrashed on the floor.

Laios sighed, “I’m not sure. He suddenly went crazy after taking a sip of the ‘cola’ thing that Mister Mukouda gave to us. Honestly, I don’t know why…”

“Unbalance! Evil!”

“Mister Mukouda, do you have any idea why this happened?” said Marcille seriously, she suddenly looked very authoritative and fierce.

Which caused Mukouda to shrink back a little. “Um, I’m not entirely sure…”

“Try,” said Marcille in that same menacing tone. “Go on.”

“Well, I believe that Mister Senshi never had sweet drinks like this before… Cola is something we consume in my world on a fairly regular basis-”

“Tis an outrage! That’s what it is!”

“… I think he just doesn’t like the drink?”

“How dare you bring that abhorrent creation into this realm!”

“It’s just cola,” said Mukouda in an exasperated voice. “It’s fine if you don’t like it, but you don’t have to call it an abomination…”

“Yeah, especially since it’s so delicious,” said Falin with a winsome smile on her face. “Do you have anything else like it?”

“Um,” Mukouda looked uncomfortable. “I guess? I have some cider…”

“I will not be tricked!”

“Just ignore him,” said Laios cheerfully. “He’ll calm down after a while. I’m also interested in other world beverages.

“Erm…”

“Disgrrrpphh–!!”

“Sorry, he was getting too noisy,” said Falin after cheerfully stuffing Senshi’s mouth with some rag. “Please go on.”

To be honest, this Falin woman kind of scared her a little.

She was like an even more unhinged version of Laios, and Laios was already quite nutty.

“Erm, I think I’m out of those sweet drinks…” said Mukouda weakly.

It was a lie, Izutsumi could tell. The rest were not convinced either.

“Master, if it’s gone. Can’t you just buy more?” asked the big dragon.

Mukouda glared at the creature, “Sure I could, but not now. Can’t do any shopping now.”

“But…”

“Say anymore and I will suddenly run out of alcohol too.”

“… …”

This tall-man has absolutely no ability to lie at all… but then again, they had no way of pressing him for answers.

“R-rather than fizzy drinks, why don’t I introduce something a little different? Um, how about coffee? Mister Senshi looks like a coffee guy. Why don’t we try coffee?”

Marcelle immediately wrinkled her nose, “Ugh, are you talking about those black drinks that are somehow bitter and sour at once? No thanks!”

“Coffee? I’ve heard of coffee,” said Laios interestedly. “I heard that it’s pretty popular with the nobles, but I never did get to try any.”

“I think I had some at the academy,” said Falin dreamily. “It was awful.”

“Well, ahem, that’s probably because you never had good coffee!” he said with forced cheer as he tore open some colourful-looking packets and constructed some kind of structure over the mugs.

Izutsumi crept closer and sniffed cautiously at one of the packets. It contained some kind of finely ground black grains that smelled really nice. Then, after a quick flash of magic, the kettle of water bubbled and Mukouda poured hot water into the fragile-looking construct.

“Wow, that’s-”

“-really fragrant!”

Laios and Marcille crouched closer to the earth table to stare as black liquid dripped from the constructs into the mugs.

“Mpf! Mpf! Mpf!” Senshi started trashing again.

Falin removed the gag with a smile.

Senshi rolled to his side and said, “Let me go, I want to look too!”

Everyone exchanged glances.

Senshi grumbled, “I like coffee…”

“Ah, is that so? Well, that’s alright then. Let him go, Chilchuck!”

“Um, just like that? Is it really fine?” Mukouda looked appropriately nervous.

“It’s fine, Senshi prioritizes food and, I guess, beverage over everything else, including integrity. He’s more interested in what you’re making now.”

“Um, if you’re sure…”

Chilchuck had already freed Senshi, making the whole argument moot. Senshi immediately leapt to his feet and rushed over to inhale the steam rising over the mugs.

“Oh my, ooh my, this has the most refined fragrance and, and, this paper allows for the best liquid to drip into the mug…”

Izutsumi blinked. She had no idea what nonsense Senshi had just said, but it sounded like this ‘coffee’ thing was something good. Plus, it smelled really nice.

Surely it must taste good too?

[Gumihou: Yay, coffee!]
