Tondemo Fanfiction – 012 – Crossover – Restaurant to Another World

A different door has opened… Ahahaha ha…

The next group of people that entered my restaurant with foreign coins were a party of 3 adventurers. 2 young women and a young man. Now, I do get adventurers from time to time and from what I could see, they tended to be on the younger side. Although, I do get older people, like Tatsugoro, who was so Japanese-esque that at first, I thought he was from a completely different dimension or timeline. However, it turned out that there was a place called the ‘Eastern Continent’ where the style of clothing was closer to what I was used to.

“Woah, I can’t believe you just open the door like that, Kanon!”

“Heheh, I don’t think we have to worry about things like that, Rio. Remember that time we had to choose which door to open?”

“No worries, I have a good feeling~”

I had to admit, their distinctively Japanese looks and names cinched it for me. After that, I paid them a little more attention. One of the ladies had long hair with a rather serious look on her face, the other was a cheerful short-haired girl. They looked like Japanese teenagers doing cosplay rather than real adventurers…

“Hm? This…”

“Hey, that’s Japanese isn’t it? Rio, that’s Japanese!!”

“Wait, are we in Japan?”

“C-can we go home?”

The three youths, dressed in the typical assembly of a mage, a scout and a swordsman suddenly looked at Yamagato Mako.

“You!” the girl called Rio pointed at him. “You’re Japanese, right? How did you get here? And can we go home?!”

“Ah, that…” Mako had no idea how to answer her. Mostly because he also did not quite understand how the magic of this world works. The next few minutes descended into utter chaos as one of the girls started crying, the young man started shouting and the second girl sat trembling in a corner.

Amidst this chaos, the door suddenly opened again and in stepped the Red Queen. Mako could not help but feel better at the sight of this overwhelmingly powerful personage. Surely, this person could put an end to whatever chaos was now happening in his restaurant?

“Oi, what’s happening here? And who are these…” she narrowed her eyes at the three youths. “You are not supposed to be here.”

“What are you talking about?”

“You’re right, we’re not supposed to be here!”

“I want to go home…”

“Tch, I see what’s going on,” the Red Queen looked around the restaurant and frowned. “Hmm, looks like there’s some hole in the system…”

“Hey!”

Red Queen glared at the three youths and snapped her fingers once. “Why don’t you three calm down a little.”

Suddenly, the three youth’s bodies went slack. They obediently sat down at one of the tables and just… stared at nothing in particular. It was rather eerie.

“Um,” said Mako.

“Leave them be, they will walk out of the restaurant by themselves a few minutes after I leave. Now, where’s my Beef Stew?”

“Ah, it’s here. Er, thank you for taking care of the problem,” said Mako as he set the large pot of Beef Stew down.

“Thank you very much, and sorry for the bother,” said Aletta with a deep bow. She looked like she wanted to prostrate herself on the floor, but the Red Queen had already turned away with her huge pot.

“Those kids were summoned to another world on a different dimension. I’m not sure how our world overlapped, but I believe the power of dragons must be involved. I shall monitor the situation. Do not worry.”

“Thank you, Red Queen,” said Mako.

“We are ever so grateful, Great Queen,” said Aletta as she held the door open for the Red Dragon.

Once the door closed behind the Red Queen, Aletta and Mako exchanged a look.

“Master, could it be possible that this problem was due to Mister Mukouda’s… friends?”

Mako thought about the two dragons that visited their restaurant just a couple of weeks prior. The bigger dragon could speak and was reddish in colour, so Mako could only assume that it was a powerful creature.

From what he had heard from the locals here, Dragons were considered something like the Pillars of Gods in this world. By ‘this world’, he meant the world Aletta and most of his other world patrons came from.

As for the sudden visit from Mukouda-san… he had no explanation for it. Mukouda had not treated the dragons with anything resembling awe or reverence… moreover, he had muttered unflattering words about gods and goddesses under his breath that time he was mincing meat with just a little too much vigour…

So, while he could not say with any confidence that Mukouda was the one who caused an issue with the ‘system’, he could not say it had nothing to do with the man.

A sudden scraping of chairs made him look up.

The three youths had stood up together and were now marching robotically towards the door. The young man was the one who reached the door first, which opened automatically as though it had sensed them. When all three had gone through the door, it closed with an unusually loud ‘thump’.

“… …”

“… …”

“Will we see them again?” asked Aletta.

“I’m not sure…”

Ringg–!

“I told you it’s here! I can smell it!”

“Yes, yes, great job, Grandpa Gon,”

Umu, great job indeed.”

Mako and Aletta turned towards the door.

Mukouda-san and his four familiars were at the door. From what Mako could see, the background was some dark, forested area filled with the dismembered bits of creature on the floor-

“Oh, hey Mako!” Mukouda waved happily at him.

“Ah, Tsuyoshi, hello,” said Mako.

“Hey, sorry for turning up out of the blue like this, but my familiars…”

“I want the shripe thing! Shripe!”

“I want the fried creamy things!”

The two smaller familiars were bouncing up and down, obviously saying something, but…

“Ah, Dora-chan wants the pudding and… Sui wants… Sui, I can make that! Ask for something else… Oh fine, Sui wants the Teriyaki Chicken with Rice set, apparently, you make it better. Hahhh…”

“Um, excuse me, but we’re about to close…” Aletta ventured bravely to say.

For a moment, the familiars all froze in place. Mukouda blinked. Mako could see the moment where his mental defences kicked in and a service smile automatically quirked up the corners of his lips as he said, “Is that so? Ah, that’s too bad. Looks like we came at a bad time-”

“NO! We demand food!”

“Master, we spent days looking for this place…”

“Ahem, if I may…” Mako quickly said before the situation could escalate further. It did not look like Mukouda was at all interested in actually reducing the tension caused by the situation since all he did was stand on the side and smile as his familiars talked themselves into a frenzy.

“Yes?”

Well, at least Mukouda-san still responded to normal conversation.

“I’m sorry to say that it is indeed our closing time…”

Uproars of ‘what!’ and ‘this impudent human!’ could be heard, but I ignored them. The important person to convince here is actually Mukouda-san, “…because of this, our ingredients are limited. So, we can only do curry rice and beef stew rice.”

“Ah, I see,” Mukouda-san said with eyes scrunched up in a somewhat maniacal smile. “Well,  it is our own fault for coming in so late. We will be happy with whatever you can serve us. After all, we are the ones who troubled you first. Right, everyone?”

It was spoken mildly enough, but there was something really manacing in that smile. I was not the one being smiled at, but I could feel the barely restrained hysteria behind that smile…

Fortunately, the four familiars (including the dragons) accepted this suggestion readily enough and sat down obediently. I supplemented the Japanese Curry with some pickles just to have something on the side as well as a refreshing lemon-infused drink.

Umu, Dora-chan says he wants puddin-”

“No.”

“… That’s too bad, Dora-chan.”

Let’s just smile and serve everyone. Hopefully, they will leave soon. I don’t mind serving Mukouda-san, but his familiars are a bit demanding…
