A Very Special Island
This suggestion was from reader Trung!
“Thi-this is…”
“Umu, this is a very fitting reward indeed.”
“Oho? I think I smelled something interesting. Master, I shall be heading over there~”
“”Dibs on the tree! That tree is mine!!””
“”Sui wants the flying bread~! The flying bread~!!””
”Guys! Guys! Stop! This place isn’t natural! It’s-!”
It was too late. My familiars had already scattered by the time I managed to form a coherent sentence. Even Sui was gone. Ah, she had turned herself into a Giant Sui before exploding into hundreds of Sui and-
““No fair!”” Dora-chan shrieked as the many, many Suis infested the tree he had claimed for himself while a good number of Sui ran after the flying bread while more jumped into a river that… that looked like it was made from cafe au lait…
I had to sit down.
While I was sitting down on a rock that I was fairly sure was made of real rock, I had to rub my eyes as a ‘butterfly’ fluttered past. It had yellow wings with crisscross patterns and looked a lot like…
“Is that a flying waffle?” I wondered out loud.
The waffle butterfly thing landed on a red flower with a yellow centre and… out of morbid curiosity, I grabbed the waffle butterfly, snatching up the flower at the same time. It…
I must have blinked because the next thing I knew, the familiar smell of butter and red bean paste wafted to my nose. At the centre of the waffle butterfly thing was warm red bean paste and melting butter.
“… this is impossible. You realise that this is an impossibility, right? Right??!! Demiurgos-sama!!!??”
Butter began to drip down my wrist and I licked it out of instinct.
“… th-that’s delicious! What is this high-class butter? What’s this crisp texture?! A-and this subtly sweet koshian anko–!!”
I felt something crack inside my brain.
“Ah, that’s right. I’m dreaming right now. That’s right, everything makes sense now.”
That’s right. Since this is a dream, there’s no need to overthink matters. In fact, now that I think about it, I can’t remember how we got here. I was… what was I doing earlier? Never mind, I must have been browsing [Net Super] or cooking up a storm or something.
Not a literal storm, but just loads and loads of food.
Although, it looks like I don’t have to worry about cooking in this place. Not dessert at lea-
“What’s this meat treeee!!!” Fer howled.
He was so loud that half of the Sui actually popped out of existence.
““Meat~?””
““Meat tree? An actual meat tree???!!””
“Grandpa Gon! How dare you hide this tree from us?!!!”
Ah, I vaguely remember Grandpa Gon going off somewhere else because of an ‘interesting smell’, looked like it was a meat tree…
“I have got to see this for myself,” I muttered as I crammed the waffle-butterfly thing into my mouth.
It was delicious.

It was… really a meat tree.
Wait, let me correct myself. It was a tree bearing fruits that resembled meat… I think? Were those Salisbury steaks? My familiars were tossing the food too fast into their mouths for me to get a better look-
“Oi, toss one here!” I said as I held up a large plate.
Someone, I think it was Sui, tossed a piece of the meat-fruit over. It landed with a juicy plop. I swallowed.
Wow.
It was… steaming hot. How could it be steaming hot- you know what? Never mind, who cares? So what if a magic tree is bearing steaming hot Salisbury Steaks? I don’t have to cook for this meal at least.
Still, eating with my fingers felt barbaric, so I took a fork out of my [Item Box] and cut a piece of the steak off.
“Woah, it’s soft, and that meat juice -slrrp,” after blowing at the piece of meat a few times I stuffed the meat into my mouth and-
“Mmmm~~mmm~~!! Wh-what is this deliciousness?!”
It was better than anything I ever had! I mean, I make a great Salisbury Steak, but this one’s out of this world!
Before I knew it, I had gobbled up the whole thing.
“Haahh… this is a great dream~ hm?” The leaves of the bush next to me looked odd. It looked like some kind of yam leaf, however, the colour was wrong. Curious, I plucked a leaf and a strong, salty smell wafted up my nose.
The texture of the leaf felt wrong for a plant, after inspecting it a bit more, I finally gave in to the impulse to take a bite and-
“!!!”
“Th-this!! Isn’t this bacon?! What the heck? A bacon leaf tree? Wait, since it’s more like a hedge, is it a bush? Does it have a flower? Can I get Alban to grow it at my house? What the heck, I’m going to gather as many plants from this place as I can!!!”
“Oi, what’s up with Master?” asked Fer around a mouthful of steaming meat.
“It appears Master is gathering meat growing plants,” said Grandpa Gon.
“”Ou!! I should get him to gather the apple pudding tree!”” Dora-chan cried excitedly as he zipped around and around before shooting towards the fairly tall tree.
“”S-sui wants the bread flower~! A-and the sweets flower~! And the sweet and crunchy fishies~””
“What sweet and crunchy fish?” Fer was intrigued.
“There!” Sui said as she bounced into very clear water with a splash.
A fish flew out of the river and nearly slapped Fer on the nose. He managed to slow it down with his Wind Magic before chomping it down.
“Hey! This is… this isn’t fish! This is more of that sweet red paste that Goddess of Wind, Ninril-sama favours!” after a moment Fer also dashed into the river. “Wait for me, I will gather these fish as an offering for Ninril-sama!”
Meanwhile, far away from their location, in a completely different dimension…
“How dare they enjoy all those delicious things without great me?!! I shall send an oracle to that irresponsible fellow right away! Kuuhh, what is that Cream Puff Bush? That Apple Pudding Tree! And those anko-filled things… those had to be the legendary Dorayaki Fish!!! Ahhhh!!!!”
