Chapter 037: Fer’s Boot Camp – Dungeon Edition

I entered the dungeon with Fer and Sui.

The first monster we encounter was a Slime.

The me who love Sui very much found it very difficult to even think of causing harm to a similar jelly-like being that looks as sweet as Sui…

[6] Pew!

“Hehh?!”

The Slime I was staring at suddenly began to melt.

[4] “Eeh? What just happened?”

“Excellent job, Sui,” [7] said Fer.

“Sui? Sui was the one who attacked?” I looked down at my sweet little Sui who has a tentacle extended from her body.

“Hm, Sui just used Acid Attack,” said Fer.

Sui’s tentacle extended again and acid flew from the end of the tentacle like a high powered water gun. The rock that bore the brunt of the high-density attack smoked and began to melt.

“… what’s with that powerful attack?” [5]

“A most excellent attack. Sui might be a unique variant,” [7] said Fer interestedly.

“Unique variant?” if Sui continues to level up, what in the world would she evolve to?

M-maa, I guess there’s nothing bad about being stronger,” I mumbled.

“Master, you attack the next one,” [6] Fer pointed at the next Slime that was bobbing over.

I gripped my short sword and rushed over to smash the Slime into the ground. [1] The crushed Slime was absorbed into the ground and disappeared.

“Do corpses always disappear in the dungeons?”

“Of course, dungeons are like living creatures that lived by absorbing Magical essence. Those that enter the dungeon, be they monsters or humans, if they die inside the dungeon, they would become nourishment for the dungeon.”

Ahh, looks like even dungeons in this world are quite dangerous.

I seriously don’t want to die inside a dungeon!

“There’s another one, attack it with magic this time,”

I nodded and threw a Fire Ball at the second Slime. It exploded spectacularly.

Wow, looks like my Fire Ball feels stronger than usual. Must be the result of the [Net Super] food.

Sui and I continued to defeat Slimes that spawned into existence one after another.

“Alright, let’s go down to the next floor. There are Horned Rabbits here, beware of is horn.”

We went down the stairs and we were immediately attacked by a rabbit with horns. The rabbit looked like a normal rabbit but has a horn on its head. The rabbit leapt and tried to headbutt us.

“Uwooh!” I swung my short sword at it. [1] [8] The sword struck the rabbit but did not leave a fatal wound.

Pew!

The Horned Rabbit began to melt under Sui’s Acid Attack.

“Good job, Sui!” [5]

Sui vibrated happily.

“More are coming, don’t let your guard down,” Fer snapped.

Oh, right. We’re inside a dungeon after all.

“Use your Earth Magic. It won’t be training if you don’t use it!”

Ughh… that’s true.

I began to use Stone Bullet on the Horned Rabbits.

However, the only thing that flew out of my hand was a single pebble. [6] It was like throwing pebbles one by one at a hoard of enemies. I missed a lot of rabbits.

However, Sui and Fer were there to destroy all the rabbits that I failed to hit.

“You’re not improving much,” Fer sniffed.

“Haahh, haahh, there’s no way I can improve so quickly!” I cried. “Stone Bullet!” [5]

“Still only one pebble per attack, huh. Maybe you should try facing a stronger monster?”

[4] “H-hey, I’m barely defeating them now. What are you saying?! Rather than that, why are these guys still attacking even though Fer is here?! Aren’t weaker creatures supposed to avoid powerful monsters?!” [5] Forest monsters avoided more powerful monsters out of survival instinct.

Some might come near us when Fer hide his presence but they would run away the moment they saw him. [5]

However, Fer is not hiding his presence now but small fries like Slimes and Horned Rabbits are still attacking.

“Monsters in the dungeon would attack anyone who enters the dungeon whether they are strong or weak,”

“I-Is that so, dungeons are too scary…”

“Oi, what are you spacing out for? The next enemy is here,”

“Owaah! Stone Bullet!” as expected, I shouldn’t have come here!!

Finally, we cleared the Horned Rabbit floor.

[6] As I trudged down the stairs to the next floor, Fer’s voice floated towards me, “The next floor contains Goblins.”

G-g-goblins???!!

[6] Horrifying images of my past trauma came to haunt me.

[8] No! I don’t want to relive that nightmare!!

“We’re here,” Fer’s voice was merciless.

However, my eyes could only focus on the front.

Three Goblins were running towards us down a narrow passage.

“F-f-fire Ball!!”

The Fire Ball struck the Goblins and reduced them to charred ashes.

“Use your Earth Magic,”

[8] Fer sounded slightly annoyed. But do I care? [1] There are Goblins rushing towards me so naturally, I will revert to my most reliable attack!

“The next ones are here,”

[4] “Gyaahhh!! Why is there more of them??!!” I screamed.

[6] “Use your Earth Magic,”

“Argghh… Stone Bullet! Stone Bullet! Stone Bullet!”

There were just too many of them. Taking them out one by one isn’t enough!

“Stone Bullet! Stone Bullet! Stone Bullet! Don’t come near me! Stone Bullet! Stone Bullet!”

I kept shooting at the Goblins but one particularly tenacious Goblin was getting closer and closer, his rough club swinging in the air as his mouth dropped open in an ugly snarl.

Hiiiiiiiii!!”

My body froze. Memories of my past trauma flashing across my eyes-

Pew!

Suddenly, half of the Goblin was gone. Its upper body had been melted away by Sui’s Acid Attack.

“Suiiii~~ thank you so much~~ you’re so strong~~ you’re the best~~!” I rubbed my cheek against Sui’s cool and jelly-like body.

“I guess Sui has more courage than you,”

Gununu, who’s fault was it that gave me a trauma against Goblins?

Still, thanks to Sui’s help, I somehow managed to get through the horrifying Goblin Floor.

“Well then, now let’s go to the next floor.”

Next floor is the 4th floor huh.

After that, there’s the 5th floor too……

I really want to go back to the surface.

Haah…

[Gumihou: Poor Mukouda-san. To be honest, I can’t say I’d do better than him.]

the me who love Sui –> the me who loved Sui
beware of is horn –> beware of its horn
at a hoard of enemies –> at a horde of enemies
when Fer hide his presence –> when Fer hides his presence

Monsters in the dungeon would attack –> Monsters in the dungeon will attack {{since Fer was saying this, he would boldly and directly say it, thus the word should be “will” instead of ‘would’. If Mukouda was saying it, probably “would” is a better choice due to Mukouda’s more passive mindset during dungeon adventuring.

“F-f-fire Ball!” <– The god of magic seems to be lenient to Mukouda. Normally, mispronouncing a magic spell during casting should result in casting failure. But in a previous chapter, Fer was having Mukouda envision the magic existence before having it cast, so this more dramatic way of casting Fire Ball is more mukouda-like.
