Tondemo Fanfiction – 005 – Crossover – Delicious in Dungeon

Another Delicious in Dungeon Crossover!

Once again, please don’t think too deeply how they got to this point.

Oh, I had this in the background while writing: Delicious in Dungeon-Behind the Scenes of the Voice Recording https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06ZQ5thiDaQ

“Are you sure it is alright for us to even be here?” asked Izutsumi dubiously as she looked around the forested area doubtfully.

They had been inside a house they found on one of the dungeon floors when Senshi pounced upon a book and started yelling about secret recipes or something. Then, a swirly magic thingy happened and they were suddenly sucked into a horrible void. The next thing she knew, they were inside this forest under a faintly glowing barrier. The party was not alone either. With them were a derpy-looking guy, two dragons and a smug-looking dog thing that made all the fur on the back of her neck stand up.

“Haha, it’s fine, it’s fine,” said Laios.

“No! It’s absolutely not fine!” Marcille stomped her foot. She shook her staff for good measure and said, “It’s absolutely not right for us to be here!! Why are we even here in the first place?!”

“Well, rather than ‘here’, I’m more concerned about ‘that thing’,” said Chilchak, pointing at an excessively large creature with legs like tree trunks, two long necks, and mouths full of fangs. One of the heads spat out acid while the other one shot these really huge, gummy-looking fireballs. By the way, the acid caught fire really well…

“What is that thing even?!” Marcille shrieked.

For once, she was not shrieking at Laios, but at the derpy looking tall-man, who looked even derpier the more Marcille yelled at him.

“I have no idea, but it’s beautiful!” Laios said as he busily scribbled in his notebook. Chilchak took a glance and noticed that he already had a rough sketch of the creature down. “If only it had wings! That would be super awesome!”

“No! Denied!”

“Humph, wings won’t help it much once this barrier is down,” the dog creature sniffed disdainfully.

“I could use my Dragon Breath-”

“NO DRAGON BREATH!!” several voices screamed.

Izutsumi hissed. She did not like the sound of that either. Her tail whipped left and right as she nimbly jumped off the tree branch she had been occupying to slink behind the big dragon. If that thing really attacked, that’s the safest place to be.

“I’m sorry, it looks like I messed up again, didn’t I?” said female tall-man. “I really don’t know what happened. I saw the painting in the book and did a thing and then it went whoosh! And before I knew it… Bam!”

Izutsumi was not trained in magic, but even so, that explanation sounded incredibly odd to her ears.

“So, how did you get here anyway?” Chilchak asked the derpy-looking tall-man.

“Well, I believe we were inside a dungeon when, uh, there was this annoying voice…” the tall-man shrugged as he spread out his hands. “It said it had something for us to do. Something about a failed experiment…”

At that, they all turn to stare at the giant creature stomping about and roaring all over the place. It was also attacking their barrier with more acid fire. The already translucent barrier grew even dimmer.

“Looks like this is not going to hold for too long,” said Senshi as he set his backpack down. “Shall we have a snack first?”

“Er…”

“WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS?!!”

“If we’re going to fight that thing, might as well do it on a full stomach, eh?” said Senshi as he set out the things from his backpack. “Could someone start a fire?”

“I don’t think we have time to cook anything,” said Laios regretfully.

“I have some jerky here,” said Falin.

The derpy tall-man coughed and said, “Well, if it’s snacks you want…” Suddenly, he dipped his hands into nothingness and pulled out a semi-transparent container.

Izutsumi’s nose twitched and her mouth began to water.

“Bird meat!” she dashed out from the under the bush she had been hiding under to stare expectantly at the derpy tall-man, no, at Mister Mukouda. “Gimme!”

“Oh, uh, sure,” said Mukouda as he removed the lid and the most heavenly of smells hit her nose. It was sweet, salty and savoury all at the same time. It smelled like the food sold at festivals back home.

Izutsumi snatched the food and dashed up a tree.

“Oi! Why are you giving them our food!?” the dog-creature yelled.

“There’s plenty to go around, Fer. There’s no need to be so stingy.”

“Tch,”

“Oh, please let me contribute as well,” said Senshi.

“No, no, there’s no need. I need to feed my familiars anyway, so please think of this as my contribution.”

“Oh no, at least let me-”

“Excuse me, can we just FOCUS ON THE THING TRYING TO DESTROY US HERE!!!??”

“Mu, she’s noisy. Allow me to step on her, Master,” said the large dragon, much to Izutsumi’s alarm.

“No, no, no stepping on anyone,” said Mukouda firmly. “Here, eat this instead.

“Humph, the only reason why I haven’t destroyed you all is because it is lunchtime,” the dog-creature said before swallowing the food that had been set out for him.

Izutsumi cast a look at the barrier, which shook a little under the next onslaught of attacks. However, since it was still holding on, she decided to focus on the food in her hand instead.

The food was a type of sandwich. The bread was soft and crusty, stuffed with leafy vegetables and thick pieces of bird meat covered in that sweet and savoury sauce that pierced her nose pleasantly.

Chomp.

“!!!”

For a moment, silence reigned within the dome. Punctuated only by the occasional chewing sounds and the roar of the creature trying its best to break the dome down.

Izutsumi tried to make the sandwich last, but in less time than expected, it was all gone. She was just thinking about how to sneak another piece when-

“Seconds!!”

“!!!” she’s allowed seconds?

“Alright, alright, here you are. Please eat slowly, there’s plenty where that came from. We have drinks too, sweet fizzy cider and, no, before you ask, no beer-”

“Aww,” Chilchak muttered.

“-no beer in the middle of a hunt!”

“But we’re not in the middle of a hunt,” the large dragon tried to argue. “This is, uh, a leisurely meal outside.”

“Like a picnic! Yeah! So, beer, just one?”

Woah, she had never seen Chilchak look at anyone with eyes like that before.

It was kind of creepy
